Talkin' Nashville Honky Tonkin'
Nashville, Tennessee, or "Music City" as it has been nicknamed (and which causes many locals to cringe) is a destination for those yearning for an escape to a welcoming music culture. The place is noisy, crowded and messy, but navigated correctly and you're in another time, a pleasingly simpler time, if only for a weekend. I finally first came to this city last year, in 2023, and though had expectations, I was amazed by its music culture. You feel music all around and it seeps into all the bricks and floorboards on which you step. There is an exciting change underway in Nashville, an exploding population means construction and crowds to complicate the navigation of its streets, but for me this is merely a challenge- one with potentially spectacular payouts of discovery and authenticity. I am, in my photographs, trying capture some of this feeling- wandering through this very special city and being open to the honky tonkin' experience.
