Election Day in Kurdistan

Erbil, Iraq. July 2009. The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) consists of a unicameral parliament with 111 seats known as the Iraqi Kurdistan Parliament (IKP). A total of 2.5 million citizens of Iraqi Kurdistan were eligible to vote in the parliamentary and presidential elections. It was the first time that its the President was chosen directly through popular votes.
